Installing InterMapper DataCenter
When you install InterMapper DataCenter, the installer automatically launches your browser and loads the InterMapper DataCenter Welcome page. If for some reason this does not happen, launch your browser and go to:
https://localhost:8182/
Configuring InterMapper DataCenter
Before you can use InterMapper DataCenter, you need to complete these steps:
- Step 1: Set a password for the InterMapper DataCenter admin account.
- Step 2: Set up the connections from the InterMapper Server.
- Step 3: Specify the way InterMapper DataCenter logs events and information to disk.
There are other settings you can change, but these are required in order to use InterMapper DataCenter.
Setting the Password for the Admin Account
Before you can use theInterMapper DataCenter, you must set the password for the InterMapper DataCenter admin account.
To set the password for the InterMapper DataCenter admin account:
- If the welcome page does not appear after you install InterMapper DataCenter, use a web browser to go to https://localhost:8182/. The InterMapper DataCenter Welcome page appears.
- Click Continue. The InterMapper DataCenter's Admin Account configuration page appears.
- In the Password box, enter a password you want to use for the admin account.
- In the Confirm Password box, enter the password again to confirm it.
- Click Continue. The Listen for Connections configuration page appears.
- Configure the connection as described below.
Setting Up Connections From the InterMapper Server
By default, InterMapper DataCenter listens on port 8182 for SSL-encrypted connections from InterMapper servers. InterMapper DataCenter automatically generates a new SSL certificate when it is installed.
To use the default key and certificate:
- Click Continue. The Server Logging configuration page appears.
To use a different key or certificate:
- Create the key or certificate you want to use.
- Click the Change Key or Change Certificate button. [A standard file dialog appears.
- Locate and choose the file you want to use, and click Save.] The selected key or certificate is used for subsequent SSL connections.
- Click Continue. The Server Logging configuration page appears.
- Configure logging as described below.
Setting Up InterMapper DataCenter Logging and Event Collection
InterMapper DataCenter can log status information, connection attempts by InterMapper servers, and error information obtained when connecting to directory services. InterMapper DataCenter logs to a file called log/imdc.log within the IMDC install folder (c:/progarm files (x86)/intermapper/dwf).
To set the logging level:
- From the Logging Level dropdown menu, choose the level you want to use.
- Click Finish. The InterMapper DataCenter installation is complete.
- Click Configure to configure the settings for the InterMapper AuthServer or InterMapper Database.
Setting up InterMapper DataCenter's Error Reporting
InterMapper DataCenter can report problems and send bug reports to Dartware. To do this, you need to specify one or more SMTP hosts and user information.
To set up error reporting:
- In the InterMapper DataCenter Daemon section of the InterMapper DataCenter Services page, click Change Settings. The DataCenter Daemon Settings page appears.
- In the Primary SMTP section of the Error Reporting section, enter a Host, Port (if different from the default), a valid Username and Password for the email account you want to use to send messages, and a From address for the messages. Optionally, enter SMTP settings for a secondary SMTP host.
- To send an E-mail notification when an error occurs in Intermapper DataCenter, click to select the On errors, send E-mail to check box.
- To send an E-mail notification to Dartware when an error occurs, click to select the Automatically E-mail bug reports to Dartware check box.
- To test your SMTP connection, click Send Test E-mail. A test E-mail message is sent to the specified address.
